- The vertical distance between the center line of suction flange and the water level in the sump should not be more than 4.5 m for satisfactory discharge.
- Ensure the number of bends in pipeline is a minimum.
- Fit a strainer on suction pipe to prevent entry off foreign material.
- As shown in fig. maintain sufficient clearance between suction strainer and the sides of the well.
